DEPARTMENT OF RADIO-DIAGNOSIS

|
Radio-diagnosis department is the back bone of any hospital or Medical College.
It plays immense role in the management of patient by providing diagnosis of lesion,
pinpointing the size, site & extent of lesion & by performing image guided FNA to
provide material to pathologist for histological diagnosis. In 2008, the department
was allowed the permission for starting the PG degree course vide letter of permission
no. U.12012/231/2008-ME (P-II) from ministry of health and family welfare, Government
of India, dated 31st March 2009.

THE OBJECTIVES OF OUR DEPARTMENT ARE:

At the end of the course, the student should be able to:
1. Understand basics of x-ray production, its uses and hazards;
2. Appreciate and diagnose changes in bones – like fractures, infections, tumours
and metabolic bone diseases;
3. Identify and diagnose various radiological changes in disease conditions of chest
and mediastinum, skeletal system, Gastro Intestinal Tract, Hepatobiliary system
and Genito Urinary (G.U.) system;
4. Learn about various imaging techniques, including isotopes Computerised Tomography(C.T.),
Ultrasound, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (M.R.I.) and D.S.A.

Goal:

1. MBBS teaching is aimed to enable them to be able to diagnose common diseases
with the help of conventional X-Ray, Special procedures & other available imaging
modalities.
2. MD (Radio-diagnosis) students are to be trained for diagnosis common & rare disease
with the help of various imaging modalities. They are trained to use the USG machine
including colour Doppler & TVS examination. They are also trained to be familiar
with mammography x-ray unit, CT, MRI & DSA machines & to be able to perform image
guided interventional procedures. P.G students are encourage to acquire knowledge
of recent advancement in the field of Radio-diagnosis.
3. Course of Diploma X-Ray Technician (2 years) is being run in the department for
which students are sent from U.P State Medical Faculty, Lucknow.
4. B. Sc (MIT) course is to be started from this academic session.
